Tennis

Tennis is a racquet sport that can be played individually against a single opponent (singles) or between two teams of two players each (doubles). The objective of the game is to strike a ball with a racquet so that it passes over a net and lands within the boundaries of the opponent’s court. Each player or team takes turns hitting the ball, and points are scored when one side fails to return it within the prescribed dimensions of the court.

Tennis is played on various surfaces, including grass, clay, and hard courts, each affecting the ball’s speed and bounce. The sport is governed by a set of rules determined by the International Tennis Federation (ITF). Points are scored in a unique counting system: a player must win four points to win a game, six games to win a set, and generally, the first player to win two or three sets (depending on the format) wins the match.

Tennis is a popular global sport, with professional tournaments such as Wimbledon, the US Open, the French Open, and the Australian Open being part of the Grand Slam events. It emphasizes physical agility, strategy, and precision, making it a dynamic and competitive sport enjoyed by millions around the world.
